YO! San Francisco
Youth Development

The Family School's youth development program prepares San Francisco out-of-school youth (18 to 21) for future success.

This program serves youth who reside in one of San Francisco's four enterprise communities (economically disadvantaged areas).

GED/Basic skills instruction increases academic skills and prepares youth to pass the GED and sets the foundation for further education, training and/or employment.

The Youth Leadership program enhances leadership skills and helps youth plan for the future. Program content includes workshops on self development, motivation, interpersonal communication, teamwork, citizenship and health. Activities consist of guest speakers, team-building and role-playing exercises, and off-site field experiences.

Employment training and job placement assistance is available through STRIVE San Francisco.

Young fathers have an opportunity to take part in The Family School's "Our Fathers Being Responsible" program to establish strong relationships with their children. By supporting their children emotionally and financially, these young fathers help to insure their children's success.
